Bio
Welcome to the premier journal of one of New England's oddest sons. Your more than welcome to add me, just state your full name and any previous relations we might have. If we do not know each other, tell me what is up and hopefully we can stay in communication. I write about my daily life, politics and new england living. I try not to make this journal the stereotypical LJ. So I apologize, there will be no "emotional" posts.

About me: I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with a BA in political science. I also worked on a minor in philosophy. I also have vested interests in other academic fields: sociology, history, economics, classics, anthropology. Yes, I know now I should have been a STEPEC major (Social Thought and Political Economy), but hey what are you going to do.

My main interests are political theory. I like studying about the history of ideas, nationalism, colonialism/imperialism, power/legitimacy, the environment, social justice, contract theory, political economy, countering-Orientalism, immigration/citizenship, labor, post-structuralism, critical theory, democratic theory, cultural anthropology, Marxism/socialism, comparative ancient political thought, Latin America, Eurasia, identity, philology, psychoanalysis, existentialism, American political thought, cosmopolitanism/transnationalism, globalization, literary theory, film studies, mass media, religious studies and underground rock.

I read: Magazines - The Nation, The Progressive, In These Times, Mother Jones, Dissent, Radical Philosophy, Philosophy Now, the UTNE Reader, Grist and Yes! magazine. I mostly read stuff on the previously mentioned magazines websites and also various other ones I find on Bookforum http://www.bookforum.com/

Newspapers - The Boston Globe, The Valley Advocate

Online - Democracy Now!, BookForum, Boston.com

Favorite bookstore: Food For Thought Books in Amherst, MA

Favorite cafe: The Lady Killigrew Cafe at the Montague Book Mill in Montague, MA

Favorite bar: The Moan And Dove in Amherst, MA.

Favorite city: Boston, Massachusetts!

Favorite town: either Montague or Amherst in Massachusetts, Brattleboro in Vermont or Portsmouth in New Hampshire.

Overall, I love New England, but wish so dearly to see more of the US and the world. You cannot imagine how much I want to splendor at the cosmopolitan meccas and rural villages of the world.
